And in true world tournament fashion, Mexico not only eliminated the US, but also itself when it scored a run in the third inning. According to the ESPN broadcasters, who certainly might have been drunk, Mexico's only hope to advance would have been to take a 0-0 tie into the bottom of the 13th inning, then hit a three-run homer. Seriously. Who could think up this kind of stuff?
