Red Sox Update
They are not playing today. Yesterday they got their World Series rings, and raised the World Series banner, and trotted out many of the former players, both dead and alive, from years past, such as Johnny Pesky. There were also many special guests participating, including Bobby Orr, Bill Russell, Richard Seymour and Tedy Bruschi to throw out the ceremonial first barrage of pitches. Ben Affleck was also there in his usual spot near the dugout practically sitting on Papi's lap. It was all very emotional and touching; especially the sincere and heartfelt standing ovation the Fenway crowd gave to Yankees closer Mariano Rivera. By the way, they also played a game against the Yankees, which Red Sox won 8-1. So by all accounts it was a perfect home opener.
